Understanding The Tradition Of Vipassana

The tradition of Vipassana dates back more than 2,500 years and is considered one of India’s oldest meditation techniques. Unlike other forms of meditation, Vipassana cultivates an insight into the true nature of reality. It is done by observing bodily sensations and the mind’s reactions to them. Practitioners aim to purify the mind by developing awareness and mindfulness. This meditation is traditionally taught in a structured 10-day silent retreat where participants abstain from distractions and focus solely on meditation and inner reflection. Vipassana’s emphasis on experiential wisdom encourages self-liberation from suffering and helps with deep spiritual growth.
